Director of Environmental Affairs, Ministry of National Development Planning, Government of Indonesia
Dr. Medrilzam is currently the Director of Environmental Affairs in Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas). He has been serving BAPPENAS since 1993 and had been appointed in various structural and functional positions since then. As BAPPENAS representative, Medrilzam had chaired the Indonesian delegation in Financial Climate Change Negotiations under the UNFCCC from 2005-2008 and actively involved in several International loan and grant negotiations between Indonesia and several bilateral countries and multilateral agencies.He is one of Indonesia’s leading expert on forest, climate change, climate financing, carbon policy, environmental issues as well as system dynamics and spatial dynamics modeling, and wrote many publications and official documents regarding these areas. He received his bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering from Bandung Institute of Technology in 1992 and holds master’s degree in Professional Economic in 1998. Further, in 2013, he holds his PhD degree in Environmental Management from The University of Queensland, Australia.
