Mr. Loek Verwijst

Loek Verwijst has a background in sustainable agriculture and management of innovations in supply chains. Over the years he had multiple roles to help companies achieving sustainability and carbon reduction targets at Control Union, one of the largest globally operating Certification Bodies in agricultural and bio-energy sustainability certifications. Control Union Certifications Germany GmbH, based in Berlin, is globally coordinating the bio-energy Certifications. As Deputy Director, Loek has oversight on global developments in these sectors. In order to maintain in the front of these developments, he worked towards the accreditation as a competent Validation and Verification body against the ISO 14065 GHG emission reduction standards. Control Union sees big opportunities for companies and supply chains with their sourcing in agriculture and bioenergy. Loek is active in the recent developments in the carbon credit markets and will explain during this session how companies can tap into this and adapt their business model towards a low-carbon economy
